1. Travel itinerary with THROUGH ALBANIA

Your journey first begins not in Albania, but right where you live, when you book with us at throughalbania.com. We are very glad you are including us in your travel plans. Please take note of the individual meeting times and places for our activities and day tours. We frequently offer free pickup service for multi-day trips.

The exact service package is noted on each trip, and we would be glad to answer any further questions.

Due to unforeseeable events such as bad weather and/or traffic disruptions, unplanned itinerary changes can infrequently occur. In these cases, our tour guides, who know these areas well, will always discuss any changes with the travel group.

2. Questions about Albania

Yes, Albania is a safe place to travel. Albania’s image and concerns with safety are often due to confusion and outdated ideas. You need only to follow the normal travel recommendations as in other European countries. Find out about the current security situation with your applicable government representative.

Note: Road conditions do not always correspond to Western European standards. Our familiarity with these areas lets us tailor every trip to the local conditions.

But in general, we advise all travelers to Albania against taking trips outside the cities at night.

Outside the large cities, medical care in Albania can be substandard. Certain medications are not immediately available in some less populated areas. If you have any chronic illnesses, it is important to bring along a reserve supply of medication. Since we cannot provide medical or legal advice, we recommend consulting an expert and/or your applicable government representative about these matters.

We appreciate your understanding.

3. Reservation and language(s) of travel

Yes, of course we also offer you the opportunity to pay for the trip by bank transfer. Here it is important to contact us in advance. We recommend a SEPA payment in the EU and Switzerland to keep your costs as low as possible. The price of the trip always remains the same in all cases.

No. We set no minimum sizes for our trips and daily activities. We do reserve the right to change from a tour bus to a car for very small groups. In these cases you will be accompanied by only one tour guide instead of two.

We purposely avoid charging additional fees for small groups.

The primary language of our tours is English. Designated tours are also conducted in German and so are bi-lingual. This may vary with the tour and the time of year. We ask you to thoroughly read the information for your tour. Upon request we can offer additional languages by working with external tour guides.

4. Preparing for your trip

The Albania packing list differs depending on the destination, activities and season. The exact requirements are described on every trip. For individual travel plans, the exact requirements are noted in the offer. For our hiking trips to north Albania, sturdy footwear is a must, for safety reasons. We recommend bringing sufficient sun protection on any trip, since the sun can be intense.

Safety gear, such as floatation vests or a water-resistant backpack for valuables, are always provided free of charge by THROUGH ALBANIA, for use during water-based activities.

No. This is not necessary, thanks to our customer-focused procedures. A small, but important element of our sustainability.
